Preventive Care

Our dental hygienists strive to keep you healthy! We screen for oral cancer, evaluate teeth for decay and take measurements around your teeth to check the health of your gums and screen for periodontal disease. Instruments are used to remove deposits and stains from your teeth. Radiographs (X-rays) are taken periodically, typically once per year, to check for decay and evaluate the bone supporting your teeth. Fluoride is available for all patients, and helps to prevent cavities. Sealants are protective coverings for the grooves of children’s molar (back) teeth and are recommended once teeth are fully erupted to prevent those areas from decay. The time between your hygiene visits is tailored to your particular situation.
